Pleased to meet you!

I am a graphic designer and web designer with experience in many disciplines. I design for print, web and video. I love making beautiful motion graphics and video, print, functional and engaging web sites. Additional powers include illustration and fine art. I make original surrealist and expressionist drawings and paintings, and am available for commissions.

Above all, I am an artist. I bring the passion for beauty and craftsmanship necessary to transform any project from an adequate solution into an inspired creation.

San Francisco creative and performing arts

An essential part of San Francisco's world-famous performance and creative culture is its burlesque and drag scenes. I've designed several series of graphics and promotions for Radio Valencia, Red Hots Burlesque, and others. Here are just a few examples.

Logo Design

Narked Records

Integrating existing artist branding, I created graphic design, press releases and web deliverables for various Grammy-nominated musicians on Narked Records in extremely short turnaround times.

During my tenure in the marketing department of Erickson Living, I implemented branding, ad campaigns, and graphic design across a diverse set of related properties, including landing pages, Facebook tabs, banner ads, news/health blogs and corporate web sites.

National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty (NLCHP)

Graphic design for online fundraising helped draw a large supporter response and moved NLCHP's action-based funding goals forward significantly. I provided volunteer web support to NLCHP from 2006 to 2013.

Motion Graphics
< > branding videos

I integrated branding into slick, engaging animations used for video reviews and news.

The Legendary Pink Dots

The Legendary Pink Dots, a world renowned experimental post-rock band, had a web site that was built years ago using Joomla and lacked an easy upgrade path. I built a new Wordpress web site for the band and lovingly migrated decades of content from the old site. I crafted a beautiful Wordpress child theme in collaboration with the site's visual designer, impementing the cover art from a recent album as the principal visual theme. View Online

AFI: Architectural Film Installations

AFI: Architectural Film Installations features a content-first approach to display their visual work - including videos. View Online

The TechBargains web site was built over a decade ago using legacy HTML code which had to be completely re-engineered to use modern HTML 5 and CSS3 markup. The modernization to the interface and usability of the site added great value to the ancient web site property; TechBargains was purchased by Ziff Davis in 2013.

“Phenomenal — If there was a way to describe Eddie's work at TechBargains in one word, it would be phenomenal. Eddie came in and not only revamped the design of the Techbargains website, he produced visual assets for infographics, webpages and videos in a matter of hours instead of the days or weeks that we'd previously experienced. I'm glad to have worked with him, and hope that his pursuit of his art is extremely successful.”

— Jeff Haynes
Editor, Techbargains

“In his several years with Erickson, Eddie brought a unique blend of design and web development together to find solutions to all web challenges. He is very analytical and works to find workaround solutions utilizing his programming knowledge, but is also an excellent designer with a keen eye for design. Eddie was able to take any project assigned to him and complete it on time and always exceeded client expectations. He was always a pleasure to work with and was admired and well liked amongst all his peers. If we had the opportunity to work with Eddie again in the future, we would most certainly welcome it.”

— Jon Gold
Webmaster, Erickson Living

“Eddie is a rare breed who possesses both the artistic and the analytical in spades making him an amazing asset to every project team he's a part of. He has a brilliant mind brimming with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in all things web--from development to design. What makes Eddie extra valuable is his generosity and patience when it comes sharing his skills and teaching others.”

— John Makowski
Creative Director, Erickson Living

“Eddie Rifkind is a very intelligent and dedicated individual who is especially gifted in web development. His fun and positive attitude and expertise in what he does makes working with him very pleasant and highly productive. I've been working with him on several web projects for over a year now, and on every project, he has proven himself to be an effective creative thinker and a problem solver. Thanks for being such a good comrade, Eddie.”

— Oz Ozel
Web Designer, Erickson Living

“Eddie Rifkind was my coworker at Ecendant Interactive. We've worked together on multiple successful advertising campaigns. Eddie's ingenuity and problem solving ability made each project a pleasant journey. He's the kind of designer who will find a way to resolve any challenge. Eddie works with fantastic efficiency. He has taught himself a lot of things that an artist would normally stay away from like HTML, JavaScript, ColdFusion and many design programs. His technical abilities far exceed a Graphic Designer's skills so he's a true Jack of All Trades. His sense of humor and easy going personality made him the life of our office. It is unfortunate that he had to leave our company due to his relocation to Baltimore.”

— Diana Onet
Art Director, Ecendant Interactive
